If Slack is where your work happens, you should consider the risks that the company retaining all of your messages creates.
10 years ago GamingOnLinux was created, what a ride it’s been https://www.gamingonlinux.com/articles/10-years-ago-gamingonlinux-was-created-what-a-ride-its-been.14505 #SiteInfo
I remember what excitement was, when my xbase #database development broke out of the desktop & onto the web via #ASP 1.0 - easily created database driven dynamic web pages. It was like the door to new possibilities had opened up.
Years later, I'm closing that door. The multi-layered tower of cards architecture hell isn't where I want to be.
Dropping back to local database processing with #CSV at its beating heart on a command line. Freedom once again to do things my way. I guess, the old way.
Moving away from the Apple eco system is taking me years. We still have that MacBook Pro, and there still are Photos libraries (remember iPhoto?) – mine is still about 100GB. I totally need to move albums in there into folders on the drive. When your over 40 years old you start to appreciate that the only way to archive pictures, audio and video is folders and files. All these tools that use databases and what not will eventually fade from your life. Don’t get locked in. Even if they’re free!
Users will be given refunds but the books themselves will no longer be readable. If you made notes on the titles, you'll get $25 credit as a, "we're sorry you'll no longer have access to the notes you took on all those books. Here's $25 and we'll call it even!"
Looks like #Greedfall is being released on all platforms on Sept 10th.
Their Silk engine has evolved over these titles Faery, Mars War Logs, Of Orcs & Men, Bound by Flame &The Technomancer.
Now they tackle fictitious rennaisance era colonialism where the factions involved & the actual island fights back!
Many users of Slack don't realize that their messages are kept by the company forever even if they're using a free plan—and they can't automatically delete them. That needs to change. #FixItAlready
The deluge of modern games coming out with the insipid trappings of modern games (microtransactions, DLC promises, Annual Season Pass baiting, roadmaps, time limited events, multi-tiered & ridiculously priced release versions & early access, always online, DRM, fluff cosmetics, multiple confusing game currencies/resources, paid-for inventory space boosts suffocating in trash drops...) has me exploring my back catalogue more & more and finding a calming reassuring simplicity in it.

* Linux Laptop Wiki [Rebooted] *
The aim of the website is to provide a central wiki to post experiences with Linux on the model of laptop / notebook you're using.
Linlap.info is an attempt to 'reboot' the abandoned and spammed linlap dot com which is now unusable.
Please consider participating on building a new "HQ" sending in your model / experiences!
Any help appreciated!
The excellent 'Battle Chasers: Nightwar' finally has a release date for iOS and Android with pre-orders now live on the App Store
I wrote a beginner's guide to org-mode macros. Is it beginner enough? I hope so. I know I would find it useful!
The reviewer doesn't seem to mention the fact that you can pause the action, plan out the moves for you and your AI companions and then watch your tactical plans come to life.
It can be played purely in realtime but there is a lot going on.
Do you use `pass` as password manager on your machine?
There is an extension to verify your passwords against the HIBP database of known passwords and make sure that your password wasn't exposed during a data breach. (Of course without telling your password apart)
This extension is packaged on #Fedora as pass-pwned.
